As a long-time union member and workers’ rights advocate, I am a true believer that workers should be able lead successful and fulfilling lives both on the job and at home. I am also fortunate to have been involved in work on these issues for close to 20 years. That includes work at Rutgers with the Center for Women and Work and with URA-AFT, and previously in Washington DC at the Economic Policy Institute and with IFPTE Local 70 where I served as secretary-treasurer and steward.
As an active member of the URA-AFT, I participated in the organizing campaign, served as co-chair of the legislative committee, and am currently a URA steward. I have represented the URA in various policy discussions, including family leave and health care reform on both the state and national levels. If elected, I will continue work on these and other important issues that affect our members. My work at the Center for Women and Work advocating for family-friendly workplace practices also provides me with a great knowledge-base and network to further the initiatives of the URA. I very much hope to serve the members of the URA as an executive board member and continue working to ensure a better future for all our members. Please vote for me on November 9– thanks! |
